  We all need to protect ourselves and our families through a health insurance plan that covers us in times of need . No it is up to us to choose from several options that  health insurance companies offer us and, of course, according to our financial possibilities .

 

There are many types of health insurance plans such as for individuals and families, for self –employed to large groups , for self –employed as a Group of one , even for retired individuals or individuals with no incomes .

The health condition of your employees will not be a problem in Colorado as the law indicates that you cannot be rejected by a health insurance company because of a health condition, age or any other issues that might predict the use of the policy by the people in your group . ( this is guaranteed issue ) . It is the best choice because it includes maternity and preventive care .

 

If you are self-employed as a group of one , you can obtain a Group Policy but you must accept more conditions imposed by the health insurance companies .

 

When you decide to leave your  job and get another one , you must assure yourself with COBRA , a state continuation coverage , a health insurance policy that will protect you in case of health conditions in between jobs . More expensive health insurance policies are COVER COLORADO And a conversion policy which you can buy as an individual , if you lose your group health insurance plan .

 

For the individuals with modest incomes , The Colorado state offers free or partially discounted health coverage through MEDICAID ( especially for children , pregnant women or women with breast cancer or cervical cancer , disabled individuals or old people ) and CHILD HEALTH PLAN PLUS .

 

Even retired individuals , aged 55-65 will obtain HEALTH coverage Tax Credit if they are the beneficiaries of the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation .

 

Though, if you decide to leave Colorado , pay attention at buying individual health insurance policies in another state because if you are not HIPAA eligible ( Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ), you may not purchase one .

 

In any of those cases, it is good that we make sure that we are always covered by our health insurance policy , by knowing exactly what kind of policy is adequate to our present and future needs and by taking the right steps in the purchase of it and the necessary time to complete the process in order not to be exposed to any unexpected and unpleasant health situations .
